Custom Claro Walnut 10/22 Stock- Before and After
I’m about 95% finished with sanding and shaping the outside… I just need to bed it and test fire it and modify it as necessary before doing the final work. However, it has come a long ways from how it was when I received it.
It started out as a Richard’s Microfit factory second modern classic stock in AAA claro walnut. The flaws aren’t an issue anymore. I want it to be a light and compact carbine stock that makes the rifle look deceptively long and looks nice too. I’m working on installing inletted swivel studs and they are demons. At least I’ve got the lines sharpened up and the wood is a lot better. I didn’t like the big hunks of redwood with the darker walnut so ebony and steel was a natural choice.
I don’t want to admit how much time I’ve spent sanding and scraping and rasping and chiseling on this thing.
